HRC Fertility was recently mentioned in an article written by Claire Thomas for Fast Company titled “This once taboo topic is the key to creating a more inclusive workplace.”
The infertility issue is no longer relegated to whispers in the workplace. The prevalence of the problem among a growing number of current and potential parents in the workforce is one factor encouraging open discussion.
U.S. employers are beginning to champion enhanced access to fertility treatments to address this pressing need. Over the past few years, according to HR consulting firm Mercer, the percentage of companies with 500 or more employees covering in vitro fertilization (IVF) has surged from 27% in 2020 to 36% in 2021.
Even more crucial than opening the floor to discussion is taking action to provide support. A recent survey from HRC Fertility found that for 62.7% of respondents, fertility and pregnancy benefits play a critically important role when selecting a new position. Comprehensive reproductive support – from benefits to culture – can help both attract top talent and retain happy, productive employees.
