Fertility Treatments 101
Many people equate fertility treatments with in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). However, it’s important to understand that IVF is simply one type of fertility treatment offered at HRC Fertility.
If you are having trouble getting pregnant, there are several types of fertility treatments. From least invasive to most invasive, fertility treatments you may experience are:
- Fertility drugs, such as Clomid and other ovulation-inducing drugs.
- Artificial insemination, also known as Intrauterine insemination (IUI), where sperm are washed, processed and concentrated prior to placement in the uterus. This is a first-line treatment for women with cervical factor infertility.
- Surgery can help with such issues as endometriosis, fibroids and blocked fallopian tubes with options such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and microsurgery.
- Assisted reproductive technology (ART) are the most hi-tech procedures and have made healthy births possible for thousands of couples who previously would have been considered infertile. ART options include IVF, IVF with ICSI, IVF with egg donation, and traditional and gestational surrogacy.
