Kay Waud, MD, FACOG of HRC Fertility San FranciscoKay Waud, MD, PhD, FACOG is a double board-certified physician specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She takes a special interest in fertility preservation, recurrent pregnancy loss, and improving fertility outcomes in patients with diminished ovarian reserve.

Dr. Waud received her medical degree from the University of California San Diego. Post residency, she pursued a fellowship at the renowned Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Norfolk, VA, solidifying her commitment to advancing reproductive health. Furthering her educational experience, Dr. Waud has also been a faculty member at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Before entering the world of medicine, Dr. Waud received a PhD in structural engineering from Chambers University of Technology, Sweden.

Throughout her career, Dr. Waud has been deeply involved in research aimed at improving outcomes in reproductive medicine. She has recently been working on two pivotal research projects. The first project, focused on a non-invasive Preimplantation Genetic Test for embryo Aneuploidy, holds significant promise for revolutionizing preimplantation genetic testing. This would offer a non-invasive approach to assessing embryo health during in vitro fertilization cycles. In addition to her work in genetic testing, Dr. Waud spearheaded the development of a novel diagnostic tool aimed at analyzing the microbiota to enhance reproductive outcomes in infertile patients. This project has the potential impact to extend beyond traditional approaches to infertility treatment, offering hope to individuals and couples struggling to conceive.

Dr. Waud has been consistently recognized as a Top Medical Professional by DC Magazine, receiving this honor several years in a row. She has also been lauded as a Top Doctor by Washingtonian. In addition to her clinical achievements, Dr. Waud has received many prestigious awards and scholarships throughout her career. Notably, she was honored with the Golden Bear Award for Best Educational Attending at Georgetown University Medical Center, recognizing her exceptional contributions to medical education. Dr. Waud actively contributes to the medical community through her engagement in various medical societies. She presently serves as Chair of the Women’s Council for the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, showcasing her commitment to advancing women’s health within the field.

Dr. Waud will be joining HRC Fertility’s new San Francisco, CA location. She brings a wealth of expertise, dedication, and innovation to her new practice, ensuring that patients receive personalized care informed by the latest advancements in reproductive medicine.
