Dr. Kay Waud, a double board-certified OB-GYN and reproductive endocrinologist at HRC Fertility in the Bay Area, was recently featured in Good Housekeeping in an article titled “7 Things You Should Never Say to a Pregnant Person.”
This article sheds light on how everyday comments, often made with good intentions, can unintentionally cause stress or harm. Dr. Kay Waud of HRC Fertility San Francisco offers insight into how pregnancy is often treated as public territory, where unsolicited advice and comparisons quickly follow.
She specifically cautions against the phrase, “When I was pregnant…” noting:
“Every pregnancy is different, and comparing one person’s experience to another’s can create unnecessary stress, guilt or pressure to conform to outdated or irrelevant standards.”
At HRC Fertility, we recognize that each pregnancy is unique, and we support compassionate communication throughout every journey to parenthood.
