Dr. Christo Zouves brings more than 35 years of experience in the field of IVF, helping thousands of patients achieve their dreams on their journey to parenthood. As the Medical Director at Zouves Fertility Center (ZFC) now a part of HRC Fertility, he has cultivated a reputation throughout the Bay Area and Silicon Valley for his individualized, compassionate approach to IVF.
Dr. Zouves studied at the University of Cape Town before completing advanced residencies and fellowships in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as General Surgery, at the Royal Colleges in London. He later moved to Canada, becoming Canadian Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology before further specializing in Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Zouves served on the full-time faculty of the University of British Columbia in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for seven years, during which time he acted as the Medical Director of the university’s IVF program.
For Dr. Zouves, it’s not just about science or medicine—it’s about changing lives. He says, “It still fills me with wonder and amazement every time we get an update on a birth, somebody going to preschool, to high school, or going onto college. This is not just a job, it’s a way to do something for a patient or a couple that is forever life-altering. To be able to touch the lives, the hopes, the aspirations of thousands of people; who could wish for anything more.”
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Zouves is the author of Expecting Miracles and has published extensively in leading medical journals such as Fertility and Sterility and the American Journal of Reproductive Immunology and Microbiology. His research continues to push the boundaries of reproductive medicine.
Dr. Zouves looks forward to continuing his work in the Silicon Valley location of Foster City, California.

My area of special interest lies in human reproduction and treatment of infertility. More specifically, I am involved with human in vitro fertilization and the various factors that may affect the outcome of the process, including variables in ovulation induction, methods of oocyte retrieval, cryopreservation of human embryos, as well as the cytogenetic analysis of human oocytes and embryos.
In addition, I am also interested in the immunology of pregnancy loss and the role of immunotherapy in patients with unexplained infertility. I am also involved with the investigation and treatment of paraplegic male infertility in conjunction with Dr. George Szasz and Dr. Stacy Elliot in the Department of Sexual Medicine, University of British Columbia.
Endoscopic surgery as it pertains to the treatment of ectopic pregnancy as well as other pelvic and adnexal disease is another area of special interest and accomplishment.
Medical treatment of retained trophoblastic tissue after conservative ectopic pregnancy treatment and definitive treatment of ectopic pregnancy using intra amniotic injection of methotrexate.
